Queensland's home isolation trial underway

From Midday Report, 12:55 pm on 27 October 2021

New Zealand's Covid response minister, Chris Hipkins signalled yesterday there'll soon be changes to MIQ including shorter stays and eventually the whole system will be replaced with home isolation.

In Queensland, a home isolation trial is now underway with the state hoping to open the border to vaccinated travellers by Christmas and potentially scrapping isolation altogether.

Jaime Lewis is one of the participants in the trial - she had been working in Melbourne and had been in lockdown since July.

To take part in the trial, she had to be fully vaccinated, fly into Queensland instead of drive, and stay in a freestanding property.

Worldwatch reporter Perlina Lau asked her about what the trial required and how it was going so far.
