Queenstown businesses still struggling while Auckland travel restricted

The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the government's new traffic light system may be rolled out in the South Island ahead of the rest of the country, if its DHBs reach the 90 percent vaccination target before the end of November.

The traffic lights approach makes use of vaccine certificates and aims to reward New Zealanders who are double-dose vaccinated against Covid-19.

Queenstown Lakes' mayor Jim Boult says he thinks the traffic light system will motivate more vaccine-hesitant young people to get the jab.
