Community crisis response workers called in the help of the Waikato Mongrel Mob Leader, Sonny Fatupaito, to help them with hard-to-reach communities within gang chapters and their whanau.
The request was made to Sonny, who received an exemption to cross the Auckland boundary, to help get members and their whanau tested.
The Cause Collective crisis response team's spokesperson Jerome Mika spoke to Māni Dunlop about why it was necessary.
