Maori Health Authority members appointed

From Midday Report, 12:43 pm on 23 September 2021

The government's goal of addressing the staggering inequities Māori face in the health system is one step closer with the appointment of the Māori Health Authority members.

The Authority is part of the reforms that will disestablish the country's 20 district health boards and replace them with one new body, Health NZ.

The Māori Health Authority will work alongside Health New Zealand with a joint role, commissioning for primary, community and kaupapa Māori services.

Sharon Shea and Tipa Mahuta will co chair the Māori Health Authority.

They both join Māni Dunlop on Midday Report.
