Now, "common prosperity" has been the key mission statement from China's ruling communist party and leader Xi Jinping in recent months. He's been putting pressure on China's richest people to better share their wealth - which is something of a change in pace. Chinese officials, for instance, have promised to make schooling, health care and housing less expensive, and more freely available. But what does all of this mean for the secretive country? Worldwatch's Max Towle spoke to Auckland University senior lecturer, Dr Stephen Noakes.
