Art critic pays tribute to Billy Apple

Aotearoa's creative community is mourning the loss of one of its most influential artists. Pioneer pop artist Billy Apple died overnight following a short illness. He was 85. In 2009, he worked with New Zealand scientists to manipulate his blood cells and sequence his entire genome, in order to create an art project he dubbed, 'The Immortalisation of Billy Apple'.
