Afghan women judges at risk under Taliban rule, say NZ lawyers

From Midday Report, 12:46 pm on 26 August 2021

The New Zealand Bar Association says Afghanistan's 250 women judges in Afghanistan are at risk under Taliban rule. That comes as the New Zealand Government has stopped accepting visa applications for Afghans. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that's due to the rapidly deteriorating situation and it's now focused on New Zealanders returning safely. But National's foreign affairs spokesperson Gerry Brownlee says the Ministry needs to make it clear whether any NZ citizens will not be able to get out, and what will be done for those people. The head of the New Zealand Bar Association Paul Radich QC speaks to Mani Dunlop.
