Heavy rain's expected for some central and southern parts of the country from this evening. MetService has issued orange warnings for heavy northerly rain around Nelson, Westland, and Mt Taranaki - and it says everyone will get wet by the end of tomorrow. It's also predicting 100 to 120 millimetres of rain will fall around parts of the Marlborough Sounds, which is still cleaning up after a storm last month caused landslides and flooding. The Marlborough District Council has extended the local state of emergency transition period until the middle of next month. The region's recovery manager Dean Heiford speaks to Māni Dunlop.
