The High Court has ruled against homeowners, who had alleged a James Hardie wall cladding product was not fit for purpose and had contributed to the water damage their houses have suffered. In a judgement released this morning after a 17-week trial, it was found that the Harditex product was not at fault but it had been so badly installed by builders, no claim was possible. James Hardie's lawyer Jack Hodder QC told Māni Dunlop the company has sympathy for the 144 plaintiffs.
