Govt significantly underfunded Māori Primary Health care

From Midday Report, 12:46 pm on 10 August 2021

New research shows the government has significantly underfunded Māori Primary Health care - costing the country billions of dollars. Waitangi Tribunal claimants commissioned the Sapere report, which looks into the investment needed to improve Māori health, as well as the cost to the economy of not doing so. It shows that $1 billion in extra investment a year would save the country $5 billion annually in health-related costs. Janice Kuka, managing director of Ngā Mataapuna Oranga, tells Māni Dunlop she sees the impact of under-funding in her rohe.
