Transpower apologises for deliberate blackouts - how can we meet peak energy needs?

Power was cut off to thousands of customers last night, and the government is demanding to know why. The grid operator Transpower has apologised for the rolling deliberate blackouts, while power companies say they were given little notice of the power cuts. So, how else could New Zealand manage its peak energy needs?  Māni Dunlop speaks to the director of the energy programme at Otago University associate professor Michael Jack.
