Māori mourn Kihi Ngatai
Māori are mourning the loss of leader and pioneer - Kihi Ngatai - who has been laid to rest today. Doctor Kihi Ngatai QSM - 91 - of Ngai Te Rangi, Ngati Ranginui and Ngati Pukenga was an esteemed kaumatua in Tauranga Moana and around the motu. He was known for being a pioneer in horticulture - converting the whanau dairy farm into a kiwifruit orchard. He also held many governance roles for his various iwi and hapu. RNZ's Justine Murray has been at his tangi over the past few days and joins Māni Dunlop on Midday Report.
