Think tank wants 3 year blanket visa extensions

An economic think tank wants blanket visas approved for nearly every foreign national currently in the country, so they can stay and work here til the end of 2024. About a month ago, the government decided to cancel and refund up to 50,000 applications for visitor, student and work visas. While others still in the country have been eligible for six-monthly blanket extensions. But a principal economist at the Institute for Economic Research, Peter Wilson, says that is too uncertain and a longer term solution is needed. He joins Māni Dunlop on Midday Report.
