NZ game imagines island after world's end

From Midday Report, 12:46 pm on 22 July 2021

The world has ended and there's only one place to go to survive: Katuku Island.

That's the basis of a new video game, launched this morning, which its creators hope will go some way in linking rangatahi to Maori culture.

To get to Katuku Island, players have to master elements like Maori art, carving and other cultural elements to move up levels.

It was developed by Gisborne educator Phyllis Callaghan and her late husband Craig. Dr Callaghan told Jamie Tahana what motivated them.
