From Midday Report, 12:46 pm on 12 July 2021

New South Wales is bracing itself for its worst day of the pandemic in about 15 months. The state premier Gladys Berejiklian yesterday announced 77 new local Covid-19 cases, and warned she expected to announce more than 100 today. 50 of yesterday's cases were infected by their relatives. Meanwhile, one unvaccinated woman in her 90s who caught Covid-19 at home has died in the city's south west. Worldwatch reporter Max Towle speaks to the ABC's Lara Hyams in Sydney.
