Protesters occupy Waiheke Island marina development

Protesters at a controversial Waiheke Island marina development have set up tents on floating construction platforms, in a bid to completely stop the work as violence continues to break out at the site. Meanwhile, Ngāti Paoa Trust Board has taken the developer, Kennedy Point Boatharbour Limited, to the Environment Court claiming they breached their resource consent conditions by removing rocks from a wall. RNZ Te Manu Korihi reporter Te Aorewa Rolleston is at the construction site and speaks to Māni Dunlop. 

* after this story went to air, the police said investigations had started into all allegations of criminal offending at the marina development on Waiheke Island. Inspector Gary Davey said the police were speaking to both parties with a view to resolving the stand-off.
