'Scandalous' museum does not have a Māori curator

From Midday Report, 12:43 pm on 6 July 2021

A lower North Island museum is labelling it scandalous they have not had a Māori curator. The Whanganui Regional Museum says the need for a dedicated curator has become more pressing as the museum deals with increasing custodianship demands, including more requests and interactions with tangata whenua and others about taonga and repatriation. Matariki Williams is the former curator Mātauranga Māori, at Te Papa Tongarewa, and is the new Pou Hītori Māori Matua Senior Māori Historian at the Ministry of Culture and Heritage - and joins Mani Dunlop on Midday Report.
