Prison conditions undignified, barren, and slow to change

Two prisons inspected by the Ombudsman have been described as undignified and barren, and the progress made by Corrections as "glacial". Peter Boshier today published two reports following unannounced follow-up inspections of Christchurch Men's Prison in February 2020 and Whanganui Prison in September 2020.
