Deadline day for councils' Maori wards decisions

It is deadline day for councils throughout the country to approve Māori wards - if they are to be in place before next year's local body elections. Māori wards are a mechanism to correct the under-representation of Māori in local government. It's led to a flurry of activity in the past few days with several councils, including Porirua, Manawatū, and Marlborough all voting yes to create Māori wards. And in news just in the Stratford District Council has added its name to the list, after rejecting the wards twice previously. Max Towle speaks to the president of Local Government New Zealand Stuart Crosby for the latest information.
