Climate changing emissions must be urgently reduced
The world needs to turn climate changing emissions around now or face a dire future, an NZ scientist says. This morning, the United Nations' secretary-general Antonio Guterres warned the planet's on the verge of an abyss following a report the global average temperature for 2020 was about 1.2 degrees celsius above pre-industrial levels. That's close to the 1.5 degree limit advocated by scientists to stave off the worst impacts of climate change. Meriana Johnsen speaks to Victoria University climate scientist professor James Renwick.
