Govt announces new greyhound racing review

From Midday Report, 12:17 pm on 16 April 2021

The government is warning the greyhound racing industry it's not satisfied animal welfare is improving quickly enough. A major report in late 2017 found unacceptably high rates of dog euthanasia, high numbers of unaccounted-for dogs, and low numbers of rehomed greyhounds. While some changes have been made since then, the government says recent incidents show the industry still has some way to go. It's now launching a review, which will be completed by August. The Green Party's animal welfare spokesperson Chloe Swarbrick speaks to Meriana Johnsen.
