Auckland Port put profits over safety, says Phil Goff
Ports of Auckland has been putting profits - money - over the safety of its workers. That's according to the city's mayor. A review by Construction Health and Safety New Zealand found systemic health and safety failings. Ports of Auckland says it fully supports the report's recommendations - and is moving to address shortcomings in safety processes and culture. Earlier, Max Towle spoke to Auckland's mayor, Phil Goff, who said he called for the review after learning about recent workplace deaths - which greatly worried him.
