Risks Myanmar might 'get much, much worse' says law professor

Top Human Rights watchdogs are calling on the international community to do more to protect people in Myanmar from its military rulers. That comes after armed forces opened fire on mourners at a funeral for protesters, bringing the total number of civilians killed to more than 450 since last month's coup. New Zealand's chief of defence was among a dozen international defence chiefs to condemn the violent response to the protesters. Overnight, the United Nations' special advisers on human rights and the prevention of genocide, said there was a heightened risk of 'atrocity crimes' in the state.
