Private prayer services are underway at the Linwood and Al-Noor mosques, as the muslim community marks two years since the March 15th mosque attacks.
A public service commemorating the anniversary was held over the weekend.
But today is reserved for those immediately impacted by the massacres to remember the day in private.
The Imam at Al-Noor mosque, Gamal Fouda, survived the shooting in 2019.
He told Māni Dunlop that it is a day of immense sadness, but it's also something the community also draws strength from.
