Wellington has made the first step towards introducing Māori wards, with the City Council this morning voting to enter into a consultation process with local Māori.
Councils around the country are pondering whether to add Māori wards of their own, after the government pushed through changes to the law that mean the existence of the wards can't be put to a local referendum
