Using te reo Māori on air is not in breach of the country's broadcasting standards.
This comes from a recent Broadcasting Standards Authority decision following a complaint about TVNZ using te reo Māori on air, the complainant saying it discriminated against non-Māori speakers.
The Authority's chief executive, Glen Scanlon, told Māni Dunlop it was receiving more enquiries about the use of the language in the last year.
