Paymark - retailers lost $44 million in 3-day lockdown

Recent figures shows last week's level three lockdown cost Auckland and Northland retailers $44-million in lost earnings.

The city went into a 72-hour-lockdown following three positive Covid-19 cases in the community, all within one family in South Auckland.

Paymark, which accounts for 70 percent of all eftpos transactions, found cafes, restaurants and bars, which had to close for everything except contactless pick ups and deliveries, suffered the biggest spending drop, of 21-percent.
