Labour scraps RMA

From Midday Report, 12:42 pm on 10 February 2021

The government will scrap the Resource Management Act and replace it with three new pieces of legislation.

Environment Minister, David Parker, ordered a review last term saying the 30-year-old law was too costly, took too long, and has not adequately protected the environment.

Three new laws will cover land use and environmental regulation, strategic planning for future development, and climate change adaptation.

Emma Hatton spoke to Mr Parker about the changes.
