A church service is underway at the temple at Rātana Pā - as morehu make the annual pilgrimage just north of Whanganui for their founder, Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana's, birthday.
But events look a little different this year as internal fractions within the church caused events at the pā to be scaled down, with political parties not invited.
