Advocates say it's time for OT to hand power to Māori

From Midday Report, 12:43 pm on 25 January 2021

Advocates and state abuse survivors say it's now time for Oranga Tamariki to hand over power to Māori organisations following the resignation of its chief executive, Grainne Moss.

Those vying for her to leave say there is now an opportunity for change and are calling for a separate authority for and by Māori parallel to the Ministry.

An advocate and state abuse survivor who presented at the Waitangi Tribunal Inquiry into Oranga Tamariki - Rawiri Waretini-Karena speaks with Māni Dunlop.
