Transport accident investigators are now at the scene of yesterday's fatal helicopter crash north of Kaikoura, where the site remains under guard.

The crash killed what we understand to be the pilot of the helicopter and his wife, with the three children who were on board now being treated for injuries at Wellington Hospital.
