An Auckland MP is calling for funding to be reinstated for a urgent care clinic that is cutting its overnight service.
East Care Accident and Medical in Botany began offering an overnight service 24 years ago, and it's the only Accident and Medical Centre that provides all-night care.
But it will now close between 11pm and 7am.
The chief executive of East Care Group, Gordon Armstrong, says the clinic has been chronically underfunded for years and can no longer provide a safe level of staffing.
Pakuranga MP, Simeon Brown, told our reporter, Adam Jacobson, that the cuts are gutting for the local community.
