Health experts want more diverse clinical trials

Health professionals want a wider cross-section of New Zealanders to participate in clinical trials. They're concerned that Maori and Pasifika are under-represented, along with people living in rural commuities. A Health Research Council project is trying to devise a model that better links DHBs and clinicians across the country They believe its fundamental to ensuring everyone who need access to new durgs or revolutionary treatments can access them. Professor Frank Bloomfield is the director of the Liggins Institute, a research centre at the University of Auckland.
