South Australians cautiously optimistic lockdown will work

From Midday Report, 12:48 pm on 20 November 2020

South Australia hasn't recorded any new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, and people in the state are cautiously optimistic.

But officials are still urging people to comply with this tough lockdown that's now been in place for more than a day.

There are currently 22 cases linked to this Parafield cluster - Parafield being a suburb of Adelaide - with a further 17 suspected.

South Australian Police say they've started issuing fines to rule-breakers, including 17 people holding a party in the city overnight.

But the state's health minister Stephen Wade says the majority of people are doing the right thing.

That's something Daniel Garland - a New Zealander who lives in Adelaide - told Worldwatch reporter, Max Towle, he agrees with.
