ECE teachers critical of centres in national survey

From Midday Report, 12:17 pm on 16 November 2020

Early childhood teachers have complained of stress and overcrowding in a national survey.

Four thousand teachers responded to the Child Forum survey and a quarter said they would not send their own children to the centre they worked in.

Some of the teachers said their centres were noisy, crowded and one compared her's to a prison.

Teacher Susan Bates told our Education Correspondent, John Gerritsen, the survey results match what she hears through the support group she runs, the Teachers Advocacy Group or TAG.
