A marathon Auckland Council independent hearing into the proposed development of a controversial dump near Warkworth has got underway this morning,
The mooted Dome Valley Dump has attracted objections from Auckland Council, local Iwi and residents who believe the site will have negative environment and cultural impacts.
Representatives of Waste Management were the first to address a hearing that is expected to last more than a month.
RNZ's Jean Bell is at the hearing in Warkworth and she told Māni Dunlop what happened today.
