New Zealand's unemployment rate has risen sharply, as the effects of Covid-19 become more evident.
The jobless rate in the three months to September rose to 5.3 percent, up from 4 percent in the previous quarter, which was slightly lower than expectations.
For Māori unemployment, it's the highest it has been in two years - at 8.8 percent - an almost 2 percent increase since last quarter.
It was a similar increase for Pasifika, with unemplyment up to 8.1 percent.
