ACC to reassess surgical mesh injury claims

From Midday Report, 12:13 pm on 28 October 2020

ACC has agreed to reassess claims for surgical mesh injuries that it had previously declined.

Almost 400 people could have their cases reassessed under new clinical guidelines, which have been developed based on the latest medical evidence and understanding of mesh injuries.

ACC's announcement arose from a restorative justice process, where 600 mesh-injured people shared their stories of emotional and physical harm caused by the mesh implants and the ACC claims process.
