Two men who shot at a police officer in Northland early this morning are still at large.
In what police say seems to be a planned attack, a vehicle pulled out in front of a patrol car to bring it to a stop at the Puketona junction of state highways 10 and 11, south of Kerikeri.
Two men with guns then got out and fired a shot, damaging the police car's windscreen.
The officer escaped unharmed.
