Pasifika representation in Parliament increases after election

From Midday Report, 12:42 pm on 19 October 2020

Parliament today reflected a diverse range of faces - with new MPs from a range of backgrounds entering the Beehive.

There has also been a noticeable increase of Māori MPs coming in to Parliament - with Labour's Māori caucus going up to 15 members, the Greens to 3, ACT also to 3 and also Rawiri Waititi from the Māori Party.

The number of Pasifika MPs has also increased to more than 9 percent - though National's lost all of their Pasifika MPs.
