National promises short-term tax cuts if elected

National's promising a short-term package of tax cuts - worth more than $4.5 billion - if they're elected to Government.

The cuts would be delivered through significant increases to income tax thresholds, but would only be in place for 16 months, from December this year.

National leader Judith Collins and Finance spokesperson Paul Goldsmith made the announcement as part of its Economic and Fiscal Plan this morning.
