Māori call for targeted policies - not just Matariki

From Midday Report, 12:17 pm on 8 September 2020

Some in te ao Māori are calling for policies to improve inequities for Māori in the wake of Labour's promise to make Matariki a public holiday.

Labour leader Jacinda Ardern announced that if elected, the new holiday would come in from 2022

Advocates who have petitioned to make it a public holiday are thrilled with the announcement, but it's also been criticised for creating additional costs for businesses at a time of economic crisis.
