Māori leaders in Te Tai Tokerau have put in place mobile patrols to alleviate anxiety among the northern communities.
Iwi had planned to put in place a checkpoint north of Whangarei after concerns Covid-19 could spread north with a large number of vehicles travelling into the region.
But iwi spokesperson, Rueben Taipari, told Māni Dunlop they worked with Police and decided to establish mobile units instead.
