Calls to return Kapiti airport to mana whenua

There are growing calls to return Kapiti Airport's land to mana whenua. The site was taken under the Public Works Act in 1939 to build an airport during World War Two. But instead of offering the land back to Maori when the public work was no longer needed, the government sold it to a private developer - and it's been in private ownership ever since.
