Hundreds of cancer cases undiagnosed during Covid lockdown
Hundreds of cancer cases went undiagnosed during the Covid-19 lockdown and the weeks that followed, as the health system focused on gearing up for a pandemic. A report by Te Aho o Te Kahu, the independent Cancer Control Agency, shows there were 689 fewer cancer diagnoses in the year to June, compared with the previous year. However the agency's chief executive Professor Diana Sarfati told Māni Dunlop the restarting of full services was running smoothly so far.
