Reo expert urges people to seek advice before naming in Māori

After a store unwittingly called itself pubic hair, a reo expert is urging people wanting to use te reo Māori to ask for the right help.

A Wellington leather store, named itself Huruhuru, thinking it was a translation of hair or wool.

However, as reo, kapa haka exponent and TV personality, Te Hamua Nikora, described in a Facebook video, it has a whole different meaning to many.

Māni Dunlop spoke to AUT lecturer at Te Ara Poutama, Hemi Kelly, about what the wider issues are.
