Collins says all moves made in reshuffle were on merit

From Midday Report, 12:12 pm on 16 July 2020

National's new leader, Judith Collins, has given top jobs to her two predecessors, Simon Bridges and Todd Muller, in a caucus reshuffle.

She has boosted Shane Reti to number 6, dropped her fellow leaderhip contender, Mark Mitchell off the front bench, while there are only 4 women in the top 14.

The reshuffle follows shock announcements by senior MPs Nikki Kaye and Amy Adams that they will retire at the election.

Judith Collins told Māni Dunlop she was not considering diversity when promoting Simon Bridges, Shane Reti and Harete Hipango up the rankings.
