Covid-19 testing to increase among Maori, Pasifika and elderly

Māori with respiratory illnesses are among those doctors are being told to test as part of the new Covid-19 testing advice.

Since the criteria was tightened last month, the level of overall testing has plummeted and the Government wants it boosted to ensure the coronavirus does not re-emerge in the community.

GPs have now been told to test elderly, Maori and Pasifika patients who have respiratory illnesses, because they are more at risk if they catch the virus.
