Books removed from Hong Kong libraries as tensions heighten

From Midday Report, 12:43 pm on 6 July 2020

Books by pro-democracy figures have been removed from public libraries in Hong Kong in the wake of a controversial new security law.

The works will be reviewed to see if they violate the new law, which targets secession, subversion and terrorism with punishments of up to life in prison.

The move comes as demonstrators try to find new ways to protest following the crackdown.

RNZ's correspondent in Hong Kong, Richard Kimber, spoke to Māni Dunlop.
