Parents of formerly violent child speak out about their struggles

From Midday Report, 12:48 pm on 29 June 2020

The parents of a child who would act out violently, are describing having to battle both the Health and Education systems to keep their young son in school while waiting for an ADHD diagnosis and treatment.

It follows a survey that found a big increase in the number of primary school teachers who do not feel safe in their own classrooms, due to violent behaviour from some children.

Anita - whose last name we will not use to protect her son's privacy - spoke to Māni Dunlop about the difficulty she and her husband faced while trying to get their son, who's now 10 years old, help.
